COSBY: Um als Retter*in in der Not einzuschreiten, muss man nicht unbedingt ein/e Superheld*in sein – schließlich können Rettungsaktionen ganz unterschiedliche Formen annehmen: Mal genügt ein tröstendes Wort, mal muss man selbst Hand anlegen, eingreifen, dafür womöglich Regeln umgehen, neu auslegen. Mal aufstehen für andere, mal für sich selbst und den eigenen Seelenfrieden. Mal ausbrechen, dann wieder sich einreihen für’s große Ganze. Es sind gleichermaßen persönliche wie ganz groß gedachte, globale, kollektive Anliegen, die COSBY aus München mit ihrem kommenden dritten Album um- und einkreisen – weshalb der für 2021 angekündigte Longplayer auch den wuchtigen Titel „Savior“ trägt. „Ist die Welt noch zu retten?“, lautet dabei nur eine der vielen (gar nicht unbedingt ausgesprochenen) Fragen, denen sich die seit Anfang des Jahrzehnts aktive Band stellt – und dabei auch dieses Mal keine Gelegenheit auslässt, jene übergroß-euphorischen Pop-Refrains rauszulassen, für die man sie seit Tracks wie „Boon & Bane“ kennt. Waren sie zuletzt von München über den Äquator in Richtung Süden aufgebrochen, um konkret anzupacken, den Menschen in Malawi mit greifbaren DIY-Lösungen zur Seite zu stehen, haben COSBY auch ihr drittes Album quasi on the road entwickelt – und sind dafür erstmals auch in die Vereinigten Staaten aufgebrochen: Weite Teile von „Savior“ nahmen die vier Münchner an der US-Ost- und Westküste auf. Kein Wunder, dass ihr elektrifizierter Popentwurf dieses Mal sogar noch ein bisschen leuchtender und größer klingt. Reisen schweißt bekanntermaßen zusammen, und die Energie von Metropolen wie NYC und L.A. ist inspirierend und ansteckend wie eh und je – das spürt man schon beim ersten Durchhören von „Savior“. Es sind zuversichtliche, kaleidoskopische aufgefächerte Statements in einer zerrissenen Welt. Nur den Kopf nicht hängenlassen: „I’ll pick you right up when you’re down“ – so das Versprechen im Titeltrack. Die Message kommt an, auch dank der dezenten Exotik im Arrangement. ,LOI: There are certain voices, that really make you listen and, if you aren’t already comfortably seated, simply knock you off of your feet. That is what you can expect when you let Loi into your ears for the first time. Be warned: you will want more. Loi has been impressing musical greats such as Sasha, Mark Forster, Ed Sheeran and Nena since the tender age of 14. Her powerful voice, dark tone and incredible range carried her into the final of „The Voice Kids“ 2017. 4 years later, and after completion of 4 different educational degrees, Loi now dives into the adventure known as the music industry. And if the incredible tone of the 18-year old perhaps reminds you of a certain someone from England, who aptly names her albums after her own age, don’t be concerned. It happens. Loi ́s birthname is Leonie Greiner but she thought it was a little too long: „As a kid I was often called Leonie Lionheart, which sort of stuck with me. When I found that in poetry the lion was referred to as „leu“ I just chose a different spelling. I like it short and stout.“ She tells us with a grin. Born and raised in a little suburb of Mannheim, Germany, she started raising some eyebrows in the „Starke Schule“ competition of 2016. Representing her High School, she landed in first place in the state-wide competition and secured the first runner-up in the nation-wide contest with a self-written composition. Add into to that the experiences and impressions she gained during her stint on the Sat1/Pro7 Show „The Voice Kids“ and the artist was rightfully motivated to keep going. „I really believe that with hope and determination you can achieve anything. Just add a little joy.“ And success hasn’t kept the young artist waiting for long. Her debut single „I follow“ is out on April 2nd, 2021 and is also the title song to the new and final chapter of the „Ostwind“ - Saga. The song shows Loi ́s personal taste for a good ballad. „It ́s amazing when everyone can dive into a song and take what they need from it. For me „I follow” is about music. How I follow my love for music. For someone else it could also be a love song intended for a loved one.“ And her next single after that is already in the final stages. With „I Am Enough“ Loi wants to make a statement, that in our jungle of Influencers and Icons is far too often left out of the conversation when talking about young women in modern society. Very few would think of themselves: „I am perfect just the way I am.“ „I ́m an open person and don’t really aspire to any or have any exterior ideals. This may sound like a book quote or something but I really think every person has beauty. I have a birthmark around my eye and often get asked about it. I just explain that I’ve always had it and it is simply a part of me.“ Another part of the artist would also be the fact that she loves singing while running out in the open.
